  • Forehead band, part of a Norwegian bridal costume purchased by the donor in 1865 from the original owner. The piece consists of a length of rounded pale pink worsted, with a ribbon of dark pink silk brocade applied to the front. Rosettes of brocaded silk ribbons and coloured glass beads decorate the centre front. The band is backed with a linen lining, completed with two tying strings of mixed woollen threads. Worn as part of a larger headdress assemblage known as <i>lad</i>, traditionally topped with a bridal crown. (en)
