These embroidered waistcoat facings were worn by David Garrick. They were also worn by William Charles Macready. From Macready they passed into the hands of Mrs Macready Chute, Manager of the Prince's Theatre, Bristol. She was married to one of Macready's half nephews (Macready's half sister Helen married James Henry Chute), and was aunt of Marion Glass, friend of Carmen Pedro and Murray Carrington, who gave the facings to them. According to Mrs Chute the facings were cut from a worn out black cloth waistcoat. Sarah Woodcock Part of the Murray Carrington - Carmen Pedro Collection, given to the British Theatre Museum Association by Mrs Murrray Carrington (Carmen Pedro) in April 1959.
