The design on the back and front consist of an oval cartouche with a soldier in armour and helmet with raised visor pointing to the sun emerging from clouds above. The spandrels are filled with a design of formal roses and leaves. The design on the spine is almost obliterated but appears to have consisted of a sun emerging from clouds between rose and leaf motifs.
