. "Shawl of printed wool and silk gauze. Woven with bands of silk at intervals in the borders and extending a little way into the field. The ground is dyed a pale green and the borders of the cone design are printed in red, pink, blue, yellow, green, black and orange. All round the shawl runs a border 4.5 inches wide, and with a pattern composed of detached shawl 'flowers' in a palmette design, based on the inner side on a black guard stripe. Within, there is a deep border at each end containing elongated cones with dark green centres and well defined flower fillings on a dark crimson ground, also with flower fillings. Within this, running round all four sides of the shawl on the green ground is a narrower border, about 12 inches deep, of short squat cones arranged alternately one upright and one with the top bent sharply over.\n\nTwo characteristics of the printed pattern are the well defined flower forms and the background shading of short diagonal lines in black. A thin fringe of green silk is knotted into the two ends of the shawl."@en . . . . . . "Shawl of printed wool and silk gauze.
