"Man's waistcoat with a 2⅜ inch (6 cm) standing collar, revers, straight fronts and hems, reaching to the top of the hip. There are no pockets, only a pocket welt sewn to each front. The fronts, collar, pocket welts and revers are made of white silk satin, the back of linen. The fronts are lined with linen. Warp-frame woven net in ¾ inch (1.8 cm) strips and ⅛-inch (3 mm) wide white silk ribbon are applied to the edges of the collar, revers, pocket welts, fronts and hems. The waistcoat is embroidered-to-shape with silk ribbon and knotted cords in yellow, white, brown and shades of pink and green, in a pattern of flowers and leaves, on the revers, collar and pocket welts, along the front edges and hems. There are 6 worked buttonholes on the left front and 6 embroidered buttons set back from the right front edge.

The waistcoat was altered in the late 19th century, probably for fancy dress; a wide band of linen was sewn to the back, creating pockets above the back hem, and linen tape ties sewn to the back."@en . . . .
