"Double-sided comb with x thick teeth along one side, x fine teeth along the other, sawn and carved from a solid piece of wood. With 10 panels on each side, surrounding a central low relief square panel, with a rosette (on one side), and an arm jabbing an arrow into a heart, under five scale motifs (on the other). The 10 panels on each side are of bone or ivory, in openwork with geometrical moresque ornament consisting of ovals, moresques and pointed arches. On each side the eight small panels were all apparently originally laid over white silk (though some are now missing), while the two larger, square panels are laid over pale blue silk. An inscription in gothic lettering, runs across narrow rectangular panels that flank the carved central panels on both sides. Bordering both sets of tines is a carved border of dogstooth ornament.\n\nIn total four small, and two large bone/ivory panels are missing. One corner of the comb is broken away and missing."@en . . . .
