All the stitching is by hand.\n\nTissue silk with an asymmetrical pattern of abstract forms enclosing formal floral scrolls. Further scrolled designs and formalised leaves together with sprays of semi-naturalistic flowers in various colours in pink, blue and mauve, and with green leaves. The two outer panels on the back have dark green leaves whilst the four remaining pieces of silk have leaves of a lighter tone.\n\nTissue with a crimson satin ground warp and green weft which provides the green of the pattern. The greater part of the ground is obscured by the lavish use of brocaded fil\u00E9 and fris\u00E9 gold and silver thread. The remainder of the pattern is rendered by brocaded coloured silks. The pattern is bound in 1/3 twill and the repeat if 23.25 inches long, but there is no complete width repeat, though it must be greater than 9.5 inches."@en . "1715 / 1720, France" .
