The waistcoat is tamboured-to-shape with white and green silk thread and maroon chenille, in a pattern of floral sprigs with a ground of repeated floral sprigs, on the pocket flaps, below the pockets, along the front necks, edges and hems. There are 12 worked buttonholes with embroidered borders along the left front with 12 embroidered buttons on the right front. \n\nThe waistcoat has been altered in the 19th century, probably for fancy dress.
