The space above is filled with a 1\u00BD-inch (3.8 cm) diamond pattern. The petticoat is made of 4 panels of silk with one pocket opening in a side seams bound with \u00BE-inch (1.8 cm) wide blue silk ribbon. The hem is bound with a \u00BE-inch (1.8 cm) wide blue silk twill ribbon.\n\nThe petticoat was altered in the late 19th century probably for fancy dress.
