"Woman's petticoat made of blue (warp) and pink (weft) shot silk taffeta lined with blue and white striped linen and wadded with a thin layer of wool. It is quilted in running stitch with blue silk thread in a deep horizontal border of sunflowers and pomegranates framed with undulating leafy vines against a ground of parallel diagonal lines. Above this is a pattern of diamonds. The petticoat is made of 8 panels of silk, with one opening, originally in the left side seam. \n\nThe petticoat was altered in the late 19th century, probably for theatre costume. A deep facing of pink cotton was added to the hem. The original waist binding and ties were replaced with a waistband with 2 pairs of hooks and eyes."@en .
