Stitches that are taken back into the material where the thread was last drawn through in a running stitch. In plain sewing, back stitches strengthen a running. This stitch is also used in embroidery to create outlines of patterns. Steken waarbij de naald telkens wordt ingestoken op de helft van de voorgaande steek.
