At the top and bottom is a cartouche inscribed 'PUISSANCES ALLIEÉS'. At either side is a cartouche inscribed 'EXPEDITION EN CRIMEÉ'. At each corner is an inscription within a laurel wreath commemorating the disembarkation at Oldefort and the battles of Alma, Inkermann and Balaclava. Above is the bust of Sultan Abd-ul-Madjid enclosed in a wreath set among trophies. At the bottom is a view of Constantinople. Down the left side are the Turkish commanders, a group inscribed 'Circasiens', a view of Sebastopol, a group inscribed 'Anglais' and the English coat-of-arms. Down the right side are the English commanders, a group inscribed 'Turcs', a view of Cronstad, a group inscribed 'Français' and the French coat-of-arms.
