Hanging, part, linen embroidered with silk in surface darning on the diagonal over 3 threads and running stitch. The field is divided into an incomplete lattice by pairs of blue leaves joined at their base by an elaborate ornament. the leaves contain a floral stem in reserve. In each space created by this lattice is a stylised red blossom containing a floral sprig with a central tulip and pomegranates and other blossoms in reserve. The oldest Ottoman embroideries in the V&A date from the 16th or 17th centuries. They are either whole covers and wall hangings or fragments of them.
