Stump work casket, rectangular with gilded melon feet. Ground: yellowed white satin, with each panel edged with tarnished silver ribbon. Design: top: lady standing between two trees which bear ornamental flowers and fruit, insects and floral sprays in interspaces, dog at lady's right, initials I L; front: central tree, lady standing at left of tree holding mirror (with reflected face), lady standing at right of tree carrying fruit, monkey seated at right of tree, insects, bird and flowers in interspace; left end: lady seated between two trees, gentleman and dog approaching from left, building in left background, birds, insect and flowers in interspaces; back: central tree, lady with banjolike musicla instrument at left, lady with bird perching on hand at right, small tree at each end, insects and flowers in interspaces; right end: huntsman blowing horn and carrying spear, with two dogs pursuing deer, three trees in background insects in interspaces. Horizontalbnad between topand lower panels: insects, flowers, birds and animals. Worked with polychrome silks, a little green chenille, polychrome metal bullion and frise threads, in satin, stem couching, back, chain, tent (applique) adn a variety of buttonhole stitches. Colored glass beads usedfor eyes of two dogs in hunting panels; seed pearls used for details of costumes, jewelry, and initials; silk braid used for ribbon; bits of mica (?) used for mirror and window panes. Interior: top: large mirror edged with marbled paper; lower part: divided into large central section with coat of arms painted on white satin under glass at bottom; several smaller sections containing drawers, small compartments and in upper corner two small square bottles with round pewter (?) tops, one small square engraved metal ink box; the two side compartments covered with faded pink plush; compartmetns listed with gray paper which has stamped silver minute rosette design on edges.
