Bag, cotton or linen embroidered with silk and metal thread in straight stitch, needleweaving and pulled thread work and decorated with interlaced metal thread. Displayed behind glass. The bag seems to have been made by stitching two panels together. There is a needlewoven border around four sides worked in a flame-like pattern with metal thread, light pink, pink, light blue and blue. On the inner side of this is a narrow band of blue and light blue diagonal lines. This is repeated in the centre to form a small square. The ground forms a square grid of pulled thread work using metal thread. The metal thread is both silver and silver-gilt. A drawstring has been inserted under bars oversewn with metal thread and this ends with roundels of two interlaced metal thread. There are two lines of white embroidery around the 3 sides of the bag. embroidered, 1770-1850, Persian
