The faded apricot satin silk ground is woven in blue, green and brown silk with alternating rows of parrots perched on small, flowering bushes, each row with a mirror image of the next. The top of the fabric is from the end loom, woven with a narrow band containing a repeating word 'Sadegh' in Naskh script. [Sadegh is a common male name, one of the hundred names of God, meaning 'Truthful' and 'honest'. It is a popular name in Shia Iran as it is the epithet of the sixth Imam, Ja'afar the Sadegh, whose branch of Ja'afari Shi'ism rules Iran.] The edges are folded over and the top-right hand corner must have been folded over in a triangle to reveal the back. Therefore the top right hand corner displays the bright, original colour, as does the vertical strip along the left-hand edge. Woven silk
