For making of the obverse of the chalice veil two fragments of crimson silk Italian velvet, brocaded with gilt metal threads, were used. While the velvet was woven about 1450, the metal bobbin lace used for the trimming of the veil dates from the last quarter of the 17th century (1675-1700).
