Fichu of embroidered muslin with silk thread, England, 1730-1769Fichu of white embroidered muslin with white thread in a flowing design of stylised flowers and leaves from which spring small sprays of five-petalled flowers at intervals. Border of rococo scrolls and scallops. The design is worked in drawn fabric stitches, chain stitch and shadow work. In the centre is a triangle of white silk muslin. The embroidered border is joined to the centre panel by buttonholing. The top of the fichu is finished off with a rolled hem.
