Textile fragment of brocaded silk satin with broad pink stripes in the centre and at the sides on which there is a lattice pattern in white. Between the stripes are flowering branches with green stems and pink bunches of blossoms. The design is complete in the width but not quite complete in the length. There are two repeats in the width.
The silk is striped in the warp, and the white details in the design are made by a flushing weft. The other colours in the flowers are brocaded. There are selvedges on each side consisting of three narrow green and white stripes woven in tabby, and four cordonnets of which the outer two consists of several warp threads bunched together.Textile fragment of brocaded silk satin, France, 1730-1765
