Textile fragment of brocaded silk in coloured silks, France, 1730-1765Textile fragment of brocaded silk with an off-white ground with a floral design in coloured silks. There are flowers and ribbons in pinks, yellows and blue with green stems. Most of the details in the design are outlined in black silk. There is a self-coloured pattern in the ground of the silk of floral devices voided on a cannellé ground. On the left hand side is a selvedge. 10 cordonnets woven in tabby with the ground and pattern wefts. Tissue with a cannellé ground and the brocaded wefts bound in 3/1 twill by a binding warp. The black outlines are formed by a pattern weft. The other colours are brocaded.
