Tassel of bright yellow silk. The main body is cylindrical (2.5 inches) topped by a smaller bulbous shape (1.5 inches) with a waist. Core of wood covered with silk. The covering consists of strands of bright yellow twisted silk bound flat, and held down by a yellow silk net, simple twisted lattice over the bulbous part and knotted in a chequer pattern over the cylinder. The fringe is made from a portion of the silk covering falls straight with cut ends, 4 inches long. The base is covered by the rest of the yellow silk strands knotted in the hollow centre of the core.Tassel of silk, possibly made in France or Italy, 1700-1750
