Trained as a painter, Charles Lepec is best-known today for his work in enamel. This decorative panel framing the portrait medallion of Mabel Morrison, wife of the English collector Alfred Morrison (1821–1897) and a patron of the artist, illustrates that he was a virtuoso carver as well.
