La lengua, paladar, dientes y labios articulan e impostan consonantes y vocales en el sonido amplificado: En el arte de cantar, es necesario un talento refinado para coordinar estos distintos mecanismos anatómicos y su interacción. Cantar difiere de hablar en el sentido que la respiración es empleada para que las cuerdas vocales vibren y por el control requerido para los movimientos y reflejos de la laringe. (es)
