| - Woman's petticoat, 1740-60, British; bleached linen, quilted and embroidered in flowers (en)
- Woman’s petticoat of bleached linen, probably remade from a bed cover. There is a deep border of linen at the hem quilted in running stitch with white linen thread in a pattern of ¼-inch (6 mm) lozenges. This border is embroidered with scrolling stems with leaves and flowers, in chain, stem and satin stitches with silk twist in white and shades of pink, green, blue and yellow. The border has been sewn to another piece of linen and quilted in a diamond pattern of ⅞-inch (2 cm) squares. Both pieces are lined with coarse linen. There is a wide box pleat at centre front with side pleats and pleats on either side of the centre back opening. The waist is bound with ¾ inch (1.9 cm) wide linen tape, forming the ties. The hem is bound with ½-inch (1.25 cm) linen tape. (en)
