Hanging of linen-cotton twill decorated with applique motifs worked with wool and some silk in red, blue, cream, yellow and brown. It has button-hole, detached button-hole, hollie point and padded needlepoint stitches.
The motifs are representations of human figures and plants. In the centre is a female figure in an elaborate fontange with lappets, holding a child in leading reins by either hand (one child is missing and has been replaced by a flower-head); At the top is a pair of figures in what looks like peasant costume and there is also a black woman in European costume, a dwarf and jokers. The hanging also depicts peacocks, a turkey and sheep.
The ground is covered with embroidered spots in blue wool, and there is an applied edging of flower-heads in detached needlepoint. The top edge has been cut and the hanging has been lined with linen at a later stage.
