  • Printed woollen table cover, England, ca. 1840-1860. (en)
  • Printed woollen table cover with a central medallion of flowers, including roses and passion flower, surrounded by a 'stone' cartouche from which swags of flowers hang down to another circular 'stone' surround with scrolls, elaborate protuberances, some pierced and bold ornamentation. The outer border, which follows the edges of the cloth, is of more fancy 'stonework' with similar ornamentation, having in addition a strapwork stone medallion in the middle of each side and a cartouche in each corner containing a bunch of roses and lilies. Printed on a brown ground, the stonework is in shades of cream, brownish green and maroon, and the flowers with their leaves being in these colours with added green, grey, red, pink and bright blue. The cloth is napped, not a piece of felt, and is bound at the edges with brown silk. (en)
