  • A man's suit of black woollen broadcloth. The coat neckline is round with a standing collar (8 cm). The shaped, two-piece sleeves are close-fitting, reaching to the wrists and ending with a small round cuff ((10.8 cm). The front edges curve from neck to hem with narrow skirts below the hip set in narrow pleat at the side back seam. There is an oblong pocket flap on each front at hip level. The pockets are lined with bleached linen, the pocket flaps, cuffs, fronts, backs and collar with ivory silk twill. The lining of the collar and shoulders are stitched in parallel lines to a wool interlining. There are 8 cut steel buttons on the right front, from neck to pocket flap, with 8 corresponding buttonholes, worked in black silk twist, on the left front. The middle 3 buttonholes are cut. There are 3 buttons below the pocket openings, 3 on each cuff, one above the pleats, one holding the pleats at the hem and one half up the side pleats. The waistcoat fronts are made of the black woollen broadcloth, the backs of bleached cotton. The neckline is round with a standing collar (7 cm). The fronts curve from neck to hem, with short skirts below the hip. The waistcoat backs, front torsos and pockets are lined with bleached cotton, the front skirts and pocket flaps with ivory silk twill. There are 10 small cut steel buttons on the right front with corresponding buttonholes, worked in black silk twist, on the left front. There are 3 buttons below the pocket openings. There are 2 pairs of linen tape ties on the back. The breeches' legs and 2 waistbands are made of black woollen broadcloth, the backs cut higher than the fronts and eased into the waistbands. They have a fall front, a pocket in the right waistband and a pocket on each front with a button flap. The pockets and waistbands are lined with bleached cotton, the fall front with ivory silk twill. There are 3 cut steel buttons, of a different pattern than the coat and waistcoat, on each outside leg seam, with buckle bands at the hem. There are 5 buttons (replacements) on the right front of the breeches with corresponding buttonholes on the left side. The pocket flap and fall front buttons are replacements. (en)
