A woman's gown, stomacher and cuffs of yellow, green, pink and white striped silk lustring. The gown is in the English (tight-back) style, open at the front, with elbow-length sleeves. The bodice and sleeves are lined with linen. The pleats at the back are stitched down, the skirt finely pleated into the waistseam and held in place by stitching 6.5 cm below the waist seam. Five widths of silk make up the gown. A band of pinked silk ruching decorations the neckline. The stomacher is in the Brunswick style, made in two pieces and buttoned together with 7 silk covered buttons and buttonholes, decorated with pinked scalloped silk ruching. The cuffs are made of ruched silk with pinked, scalloped edges. The gown was probably made 1770-1775 with robings and worn with the stomacher and ruched cuffs. Later in the decade, the robings were unpicked and opened to meet at the centre front and the cuffs removed.
