Panel of painted silk dress fabric. It comprises three panels seamed selvedge to selvedge, with a drawstring at the top suggesting that it may have been used as an apron. The silk has been crudely cut at each side, possibly to reuse individual painted motifs for another purpose. The ground is a plain woven cream silk, painted with isolated motifs of exotic birds and English flowers. There are traces of old needleholes and thread in the body of the panel, indicating that it might have been pleated or gathered at some stage.
