This kind of sleeveless vest, from the late Qing Dynasty (1864-72) would have been worn as an overjacket, over a robe for a girl. Possibly 1862-1874. Motifs, colour scheme and some of the ribbon trim is nearly identical to that on a vest/surcoat that had been made for the Tongzhi Emperor's empress or concubine, in the Palace Museum's collection (Gugong Inv. no. 44690)
