Christie, Manson & Woods (RF 22865/1899); condition: 'Wormeaten and worn; the leather is stained in parts', see Bardini Catalogue (Pl. 14, No. 224). Attributed 'Italian; late 16th century (Restored)' Assigned to Woodwork dept. Heraldry The arms have been identified as those of the Savelli family of Rome (see Amayden, Famiglie Romane, vol. II, p.188 (75.B.108)) According to an unattributed note in the FWK file, there would normally be a little bird standing on the rose held by the two lions in the upper part of the shield.
