Deze toepassing vindt meestal plaats bij een temperatuur tussen 183 en 310 graden Celsius, met een maximum van 750 graden Celsius. Gebruik 'hardsolderen' voor hetzelfde procédé waarbij de temperatuur tussen de 750 en 900 graden Celsius ligt. Gebruik 'lassen' voor het procédé waarbij twee stukken metaal worden verbonden en waarbij het nodig is de oppervlakken te ontharden of te smelten en waarbij lasmetaal wel of niet gebruikt kan worden.
