De eerste voorbeelden verschenen rond 1745 en waren voorzien van het Franse koninklijk wapen. Al snel verschenen ook republikeinse thema's, waaronder de vrijheidsmuts, de Gallische haan, ploegen, eikenbomen, gedrapeerde vlaggen, de Bastille en slogans en scènes met betrekking tot de vrijheid, de mensenrechten, de burgerij en de landbouw.   • A type of faïence parlante, generally plates and jugs, that features inscriptions and depictions of the French Revolution, its ideology, or other national political events. The first examples appeared around 1745 and featured the Royalist fleur-de-lis. Republican themes soon appeared, including the Phrygian cap, the Gallic cock, plows, oak trees, draped flags, the Bastille, and slogans and scenes related to liberty, the rights of man, the Third Estate, and agriculture.
