  • Flat pane glass made by blowing a bubble of glass, transferring it from a blow-pipe to a rod, cutting it open, then rapidly rotating it until, by centrifugal force, it is spread into a flat disk. Can be either small individual panes with so-called bulls-eyes in the centers or large disks that are annealed and cut into pieces. Crown glass is thin and brilliant with a slight convexity and concentric wavy lines. Known to the ancient Romans throughout the Empire; found in windows of medieval cathedrals. (en)

  • Vidrio en lebrillos planos que se fabrica soplando una burbuja de gas, transfiriéndola del tubo de soplado a una varilla, cortándola para abrirla y haciéndola girar rápidamente hasta que, por fuerza centrífuga, se extienda en forma de un disco plano. Pueden tratarse de lebrillos individuales pequeños, con un "ojo de toro" al centro, o de grandes discos que son recocidos y cortados en piezas. El vidrio en corona es delgado y brillante, con una leve convexidad y líneas onduladas concéntricas. Conocido de los antiguos romanos durante el Imperio, se encuentra en las ventajas de las catedrales medievales. (es)
  • Plat vensterglas dat wordt gemaakt door een bol glas te blazen, deze van de blaaspijp over te brengen naar een staaf, open te snijden en vervolgens snel rond te draaien tot er als gevolg van de middelpuntvliedende kracht een platte schijf ontstaat. Het kunnen kleine, afzonderlijke ruiten zijn met een verdikking in het midden of grote schijven die na tempering in stukken worden gesneden. Kroonglas is dun, sprankelend en licht gewelfd met concentrische golvende lijnen. Kroonglas was overal in het oude Romeinse Rijk bekend. Het is te vinden in vensters van middeleeuwse kathedralen.
