Until the death of Prince Albert in 1861, Queen Victoria regularly attended the theatre. This silk programme commemorates her visit to the Theatre Royal, Windsor, on 17 January 1854. At this Command Performance the Queen was able to watch a comedy, an interlude and a farce: it was the type of light entertainment that she particularly enjoyed.
